Biography

Before its sounds dominated the radio stations, there was a communal experience for those who had discovered electronic dance music. Friendships were formed on a shared love for a type of music that was still a little bit “out there”. Out of a desire to celebrate and recreate the feeling that spurred the growth of electronic music, Anden was born.

Brothers Tom and Pete Cuppernull unexpectedly fell into the scene nearly a decade ago and have applied their lifelong musicianship to their music. Classically trained on the violin, cello, and trumpet, the brothers’ club-centric music has supported their rise as one of New York City’s breakout house and techno acts. Anden’s organic and warm productions have garnered cross-genre support from Pete Tong and Bebetta to Above & Beyond and Armin van Buuren, making the brothers one of the most in-demand acts from The Big Apple.

Originally beginning as hip-hop DJs and celebrating their New York roots, Anden is recognized for their mature DJ sets and prowess behind the turntables. The brothers embrace the rich urban experience of New York and often draw upon the city itself for inspiration for their records.

2017 marked a year of immense growth for the duo. Anden released over a dozen records and were tapped for remix duties by legendary German act Kyau & Albert. Anden became the youngest American signees to Toolroom’s progressive armZerothree Music, and they launched their innovative event series Sound Room Live - taking house and techno out of the nightlife scene to throw parties in non-club venues. The year concluded with a 3-track EP on Colorize Music, gathering extensive support from artists including Lane 8.

Anden continues to see success in 2018. They began the year with their genre-defying ‘Retrograde’, grabbing the attention of Danny Howard, who gave the record an exclusive premiere to radio audiences on BBC Radio 1. Their followup record ‘Fargo’ coincided with a slew of bookings across the USA - from Los Angeles, to Miami, to New York - and the duo’s ‘September’ saw back to back spins on Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy radio show. That’s not it for the brothers in 2018, however - Anden has an additional seven tracks slated for release before year end.

The Anden brotherhood and musical journey has only just begun...
